In the wake of the devastating wildfires sweeping through California, Pet Supplies Plus, one of the nation’s largest pet retail franchises, has partnered with Natural Balance, Coastal Pet Products, and Hamilton Pet Products to provide essential aid to animals affected by the disaster. Their combined efforts have resulted in a significant donation to the Best Friends Animal Society, aiming to support displaced pets during this challenging time.

Generous Contributions to Aid Displaced Pets

Pet Supplies Plus has donated $15,000 worth of essential pet supplies, including collars, leashes, and harnesses from Coastal Pet Products and Hamilton Pet Products. Additionally, in collaboration with Natural Balance, they have contributed 1,152 pounds of dog food to ensure the well-being of pets impacted by the wildfires.

Chris Rowland, CEO of Pet Supplies Plus, emphasized the importance of supporting both people and their pets during natural disasters:

“We’re grateful for our partnership with Best Friends Animal Society and the opportunity to gift these essential supplies to pets and families who are really in need. Our goal is to provide some relief during this difficult time and support the incredible work being done by local rescue organizations.”

Best Friends Animal Society’s Ongoing Efforts

Best Friends Animal Society, a leading national animal welfare organization, has been at the forefront of providing lifesaving programs across the country, including in Los Angeles. In response to the wildfires, they have been supporting local shelters and operating a pet pantry out of their West L.A. Pet Adoption Center to supply essential items for both people and pets.

Julie Castle, CEO of Best Friends Animal Society, expressed her gratitude: “We are immensely grateful to Pet Supplies Plus for their support of the many pets impacted by the California wildfires. This donation will go a long way in helping us continue our efforts to keep displaced pets and their people together during this challenging time.”

The Recent California Wildfires

Since January 7th, 2025, a series of destructive wildfires have ravaged the Los Angeles metropolitan area and surrounding regions. As of January 27th, 2025, according to https://www.fire.ca.gov/incidents the wildfires have resulted in at least 28 fatalities, forced more than 200,000 evacuations, and destroyed or damaged over 16,250 structures. The Palisades Fire in Pacific Palisades and the Eaton Fire in Altadena have been particularly devastating, ranking among the most destructive fires in California’s history.

The situation has been exacerbated by drought conditions, low humidity, and powerful Santa Ana winds, which have reached speeds of up to 100 miles per hour in some areas. These factors have created a perfect storm for wildfires, making containment efforts challenging for firefighters and emergency responders. The fire has drastically impacted the lives of people, pets, and wildlife.

Community Support and How to Help

In these trying times, community support is crucial. Pet Supplies Plus encourages individuals to learn more about relief efforts in their area and to consider supporting local shelters and animal welfare organizations. For more information or to find your local store, visit the Pet Supplies Plus website.

By coming together, we can provide much-needed assistance to both people and pets affected by these devastating wildfires.
