FASTSIGNS Turns Sign Manufacturing Day Into a Hiring Engine for Its Franchise Network

With a career personality quiz, a coordinated social campaign, and a fresh look at what sign industry work really involves, FASTSIGNS is helping locally owned centers connect with the talent they need.

Every industry carries a few outdated stereotypes, and sign making has its share. FASTSIGNS would like to retire them. On October 1st, 2026, FASTSIGNS International, Inc. announced a national awareness initiative tied to Sign Manufacturing Day, and the goal reaches well past a celebratory post. Instead of simply marking the occasion, the brand turned it into a recruiting campaign designed to connect job seekers with open roles across its network of locally owned centers.

It is a simple idea with a smart twist. A franchisor is using its national voice, its digital reach, and a well-timed industry moment to help franchisees with one of the most local initiatives they have: building a team.

An Industry Day With a Hiring Agenda

Sign Manufacturing Day takes place each year on the first Friday in October. It highlights careers and opportunities in the modern sign and visual communications industry, with a focus on how high-tech, diverse, and rewarding the work can be. For many brands, a day like this could pass with a graphic and a hashtag.

FASTSIGNS chose to give it a job description. This year, the brand is inviting job seekers, college graduates, and trade professionals to explore hands-on careers in brand consulting, graphic design, strategic sales, production, and installation. That list alone helps make the case. Someone who has never considered the sign industry may find a path that fits a creative mind, a sales instinct, or a love of working with their hands, all under one roof.

Pairing an industry awareness day with a recruiting push also gives the message a reason to exist right now. Candidates are not just told that the work is interesting; they are shown where to apply and how to figure out where they belong.

“Far More Than Just Making a Sign”

At the center of the campaign sits a reframing of the work itself. FASTSIGNS positions its signage professionals as creative brand strategists and consultative partners for businesses in their local communities, people who help other business owners figure out how to be seen and understood.

President Jim Howe captured that shift in one statement. “A career at FASTSIGNS is about far more than just making a sign,” said Howe. “Our visual solutions experts serve as true brand partners. They leverage creative problem-solving skills to consult with business owners, navigate complex messaging challenges and turn big ideas into high-impact visual realities across every major industry sector.”

That framing matters because it changes who might raise a hand. A graphic design graduate, a career changer with a consulting background, and a skilled tradesperson can all see themselves in that description. By describing the role as problem-solving and partnership, FASTSIGNS widens the door without changing what happens inside the centers.

A Quiz That Answers the Question Job Seekers Ask First

Interest only helps if it leads somewhere, and FASTSIGNS built a clear destination. The campaign drives prospective candidates to its dedicated career portal, where an interactive personality quiz helps job seekers identify career paths, from design and production to sales and installation, that align with their strengths and interests.

It is an approachable move. Many people exploring a new industry are not sure where they would fit, and a job board full of titles does not always help them decide. A quiz turns that uncertainty into a starting point, and it does so in a format people already enjoy taking and sharing. Someone who clicks out of curiosity could leave with a direction, and a center could gain a candidate who arrives already knowing which role suits them.

Job seekers can take the FASTSIGNS career personality quiz and then explore opportunities at locally owned and operated centers.

National Reach, Local Teams

To spread the word, FASTSIGNS centers across North America are running a coordinated social media campaign on Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and LinkedIn, celebrating the creative strategists who make visual communications happen every day. The coordination is the quiet strength here. Individual owners get a polished, consistent message to share, and the brand gains a chorus of local voices telling the same story at once.

That story leans on three themes. First comes tangible impact, since professionals see their concepts come to life in their own communities through architectural signage, vehicle wraps, and custom brand displays. Few jobs let you drive past your work on the way home. Second, the campaign highlights a dynamic pace, describing center environments where no two days or projects are identical, a welcome pitch for anyone who dreads monotony.

Third, and perhaps most telling for the franchise model, the campaign emphasizes local team culture with national backing. Employees receive direct mentorship from local franchise owners while drawing on the stability, technology, and resources of a global brand. It is a recruiting message that only a franchise system can make: the closeness of a local business paired with the support of a larger network.

Why This Idea Travels

What makes this campaign worth watching is how neatly it aligns the interests of everyone involved. Candidates get a clearer picture of an industry they may have overlooked, along with a tool that points them toward the right role. Franchise owners get national visibility for their open positions and a shared message they can amplify locally. Meanwhile, the brand strengthens its reputation as a place where creative and skilled people can build careers.

Along the way, FASTSIGNS turned an annual industry observance into something practical, measurable in candidates rather than likes. For franchise systems looking for fresh ways to support their owners, the lesson is easy to borrow: find the moment your industry already celebrates, and use it to help franchisees build their teams.
