For an early childhood education franchise, delivering a consistent experience depends heavily on the educators leading its classrooms. Celebree School is formalizing how it prepares those teachers through Celebree Certified, a new internal certification program that requires educators to demonstrate classroom readiness before leading independently.
Announced September 8th, the initiative is already operating across Celebree’s corporate schools. The company plans to expand it to franchise locations in early 2027, bringing a structured combination of training, mentorship, and observation to teacher onboarding throughout the system.
The program addresses a distinction at the center of Celebree’s announcement: meeting state qualifications and demonstrating readiness to lead a classroom involve different measures. Through its certification process, the company intends to evaluate how teachers apply their preparation in everyday classroom settings.
“Choosing childcare is one of the most important decisions a family makes, and parents should feel confident in who is leading their child’s classroom,” said Lisa Bricker, Chief Talent Officer at Celebree School, in the announcement. “Celebree Certified was built to make sure our teachers are not only qualified, but truly prepared with training, coaching, and real classroom experience before they lead independently. When we invest in our educators, children and families benefit too.”
How Celebree Certified Evaluates Teacher Readiness
Celebree calls the certification journey “The First 30.” It brings orientation, classroom immersion, and ongoing feedback into a process that ends with a certification decision on Day 30. Educators participating as Teachers in Development must demonstrate proficiency in the company’s Core Competencies before independently leading a classroom.
The process includes foundational preparation through the Celebree Training Institute and a Shadow Week devoted to guided observation and hands-on learning. It also incorporates 20 days of in-class coaching and mentorship, along with five hours per week of leadership support and feedback. Evaluation takes place through real classroom experiences, giving school leaders opportunities to observe teachers as they put their training into practice. That structure makes the certification decision consequential. Completing the onboarding period alone does not establish readiness under the model described in the announcement; teachers must demonstrate the required competencies.
For families, Celebree’s intended benefit is a clearer basis for confidence in the person leading their child’s classroom. For educators, the program establishes a defined period of guidance and feedback before they assume independent classroom responsibility.
Bringing a Common Training Process to Franchise Schools
The planned franchise rollout follows another development in Celebree’s expansion. In August, the company announced its 50th franchise location with the opening of a school in Marietta, Georgia. That growing footprint gives the certification initiative a broader operational context: preparing teachers through a common process as more owners and school leaders deliver the brand’s programs.
For franchise operators, the design also carries a practical staffing consideration. Classroom mentorship and five hours of weekly leadership support require time from experienced educators and school leaders. Putting the program into practice will likely involve coordinating coaching, observation and feedback alongside daily school operations. However, it feels like an investment worth making.
Celebree describes the initiative as a way to protect classroom quality, improve operational consistency and strengthen retention. The program gives franchisees a specific process to examine when evaluating the brand’s talent support. Its value will depend on how consistently schools carry out the training, how they assess demonstrated readiness, and how they support teachers who need more preparation.
Making Educator Development Part of the Brand Experience
Celebree provides infant and toddler care, preschool and summer camp programs, and has operated in early childhood education for more than 30 years. The company connects the new certification initiative to its “Grow People Big and Small” promise, placing employee development alongside its work with children and families.
