Jersey Mike’s Subs and Best Buddies International are joining forces in a nationwide effort this weekend to raise funds and awareness for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). On Saturday, November 9th, and Sunday, November 10th, Jersey Mike’s will donate 20 percent of sales from its nearly 3,000 locations across the U.S. to Best Buddies, helping to further the organization’s mission of fostering friendships, job opportunities, leadership skills, and inclusive living for people with IDD.

“We’d like to invite you to Jersey Mike’s this weekend when 20 percent of all sales will be donated to help Best Buddies build a more inclusive world where everyone can thrive,” said Peter Cancro, Founder and CEO of Jersey Mike’s Franchise Systems, Inc. “Raising up together, we always make a difference.”

    Empowering Inclusion Through Employment Opportunities

This collaboration goes beyond fundraising, as Jersey Mike’s is also working with Best Buddies to actively open doors for individuals with IDD by offering employment opportunities within its restaurants. A dozen Jersey Mike’s locations have already employed Best Buddies participants, helping them to earn an income and live more independently. Plans are underway to expand this model to additional cities nationwide, as part of Jersey Mike’s ongoing commitment to giving back to the community.

This initiative aligns seamlessly with Best Buddies’ goal of creating integrated employment opportunities that allow individuals with IDD to support themselves and become more self-sufficient. In a show of support, Jersey Mike’s has even launched a national TV commercial featuring Best Buddies participants, sharing the positive impact of this program and encouraging others to join the cause.

Anthony K. Shriver, founder and CEO of Best Buddies International, praised Jersey Mike’s for its commitment.

“In my 35 years in this field, I have never worked with a company more generous and committed to local community support than Jersey Mike’s,” he said. “They are an example of everything that is fantastic about our country—generosity and kindness—and their dedication to our mission underscores the positive impact businesses can make within their communities.”

A Legacy of Giving and Community Impact

Jersey Mike’s has long demonstrated a passion for giving. Their mission statement, “Giving…making a difference in someone’s life,” speaks to the heart of the brand. From its roots in 1956, Jersey Mike’s has not only built a reputation for its fresh, authentic subs but also for its dedication to supporting the communities it serves. Through its partnership with Best Buddies, Jersey Mike’s is continuing to build on that legacy, helping foster a more inclusive society and showing their franchise heart.

Founded in 1989, Best Buddies International has grown from a single chapter to 3,500 chapters worldwide. Its reach touched the lives of more than 1.3 million people, both with and without IDD. This weekend’s fundraiser aims to contribute to that impact, enabling Best Buddies to continue its work in creating meaningful opportunities and connections for people with IDD.

With this initiative, Jersey Mike’s is inviting customers across the country to not only enjoy their favorite sub sandwiches but to make a difference in the lives of individuals with IDD by supporting Best Buddies’ mission of inclusion and empowerment.
