An oversized check at the front door. A game piece peeled from restaurant packaging. The possibility that an ordinary day might come with an unexpected prize. Sweepstakes and promotional games have long given consumers a reason to pause, participate, and imagine winning something beyond their usual purchase.
Jason’s Deli is drawing on that tradition as it celebrates its 50th anniversary. Its Deli-Bration Through the Decades Sweepstakes pairs prizes inspired by the 1970s through the 2000s with daily online participation for Deli Dollars Rewards members. Running October 1st through October 31st, 2026, the promotion accompanies a returning fall menu and a seasonal catering package.
The campaign brings together two kinds of familiarity: the brand’s own history and the toys, technology, and entertainment customers may associate with different periods of their lives. For a restaurant founded in 1976, those cultural references connect the anniversary to customers’ memories beyond the date on a company timeline.
From Mailbox Sweepstakes to Digital Rewards
Sweepstakes have a well-established place in American consumer marketing. Publishers Clearing House introduced its sweepstakes in 1967, using the promotion alongside its magazine subscription business. Its television appearances featuring surprise visits and oversized checks helped make the possibility of winning part of the company’s public identity.
That history supports the nostalgic appeal of sweepstakes, but it does not establish that consumers participated more frequently in earlier decades. Contemporary restaurant promotions show how familiar games now operate through digital accounts and loyalty programs.
McDonald’s, for example, will bring its MONOPOLY promotion back to U.S. restaurants on October 6th, 2026, combining physical peel-off pieces with gameplay in its app. Participants must register for the game and opt into its rewards program. In announcing the return, McDonald’s explicitly connected the promotion with childhood memories and family moments.
Jason’s Deli uses a different format, but its anniversary campaign makes a similar connection between past and present. The throwback theme supplies the historical references, while the Deli Dollars program provides the setting for participation.
Five Decades Become Part of the Experience
According to Jason’s Deli, more than 100,000 prizes are available through the October promotion, including nostalgic toys and technology, theme park passes, movie tickets, and restaurant food and drinks. Members can play daily, with each day of participation also earning an entry into a grand prize drawing for a Las Vegas getaway.
“Celebrating 50 years gives us a great opportunity to have a little fun and take a trip down memory lane,” said Kim Collura, vice president of marketing at Jason’s Deli, in the announcement.
“There are so many moments, flavors and traditions that have been part of the brand over the years, and we wanted to bring some of that nostalgia into the celebration.”
The accompanying promotional artwork makes that approach visible. An arcade cabinet, a portable CD player, a Game Boy Color, and other throwback items appear alongside restaurant rewards and entertainment tickets. The imagery gives the promotion recognizable references across several generations rather than limiting the celebration to the company’s founding era. For franchise marketers, the campaign offers a concrete example of connecting an anniversary with an existing customer program. Its daily format gives members repeated opportunities to participate throughout the month.
Familiar Fall Flavors Accompany the Anniversary
The anniversary promotion arrives alongside seasonal menu items available through December 31st. The returning Harvest Turkey Sandwich combines smoked turkey breast, field greens, red onions, Muenster cheese and mayonnaise on a toasted cranberry sweet potato ciabatta bun. Beef Stew, Southwest Chicken Chili and Pumpkin Spice Coffee Cake round out the fall lineup.

The returning Flavors of the Season catering package serves 10 and includes Harvest Turkey and Amy’s Turkey-O sandwiches, chips, pickles, a Nutty Mixed-Up Side Salad, Cranberry Walnut Cookies and Pumpkin Spice Coffee Cake.
Founded by Joe Tortorice Jr. in Beaumont, Texas, Jason’s Deli now operates more than 235 delis across 27 states, according to the company. Its anniversary campaign brings that history into a present-day customer experience through returning menu items and prizes that look back across the decades.
The sweepstakes requires no purchase and is open to eligible Deli Dollars Rewards members age 18 or older who reside in a state where Jason’s Deli operates. Participation is limited to one entry per day, with complete eligibility requirements and prize details governed by the official rules.
