This Veterans Day, Taziki’s Mediterranean Café is showing its support for military veterans through a special charitable initiative and a heartfelt in-store promotion. On November 11th, the restaurant chain will donate $1 from every gyro sold to the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP). WWP is a nonprofit organization known for providing critical services such as mental health support, career counseling, and long-term rehabilitation for Iraq and Afghanistan veterans.

Taziki’s is also inviting veterans to participate in its “Gyros for Our Heroes” program. Veterans who dine in at participating locations on November 11th will receive a complimentary Grilled Chicken Gyro meal. Thois meal comes complete with chips and a choice of a side. Side options include their signature cucumber tomato salad, roasted new potatoes, basmati rice, fresh fruit cup, or pasta salad. These ingredients showcase Taziki’s commitment to fresh, homemade Mediterranean-inspired dishes.

“Veteran’s Day provides an opportunity to consider how we can best care for those who have served us,” said Dan Simpson, CEO of Taziki’s. “It’s our pleasure to honor veterans with one of our most popular menu items while partnering with the Wounded Warrior Project to help provide them with vital support and resources. By coming together as a community, we can help make a meaningful impact.”

Taziki’s & WWP Shared Mission of Support

The need for initiatives like these is clear, as data from the Wounded Warrior Project’s Annual Warrior Survey highlights the challenges faced by many veterans. Approximately 76% of veterans report being diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Half are also managing other mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression. Additionally, issues like chronic pain affect 76% of surveyed veterans, and sleep disturbances are reported by 80%. Financial hardships further complicate their recovery, with three in five veterans struggling to cover basic expenses.

The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering and improving the lives of veterans and service members who were wounded, injured, or became ill during their military service. It was established in 2003 in response to the needs of the first wave of injured veterans returning from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. WWP has grown into a multifaceted support network that provides critical services to help veterans transition back into civilian life.

WWP’s comprehensive approach encompasses mental health programs, career counseling, physical rehabilitation, and long-term recovery services. With mental health being a top priority, the organization has developed programs tailored to address the unique challenges that veterans face. These challenges include but are not limited to PTSD, anxiety, and depression. By offering resources like Warrior Care Network and Project Odyssey, which focus on intensive treatment and outdoor therapy, WWP helps veterans regain confidence and build a path toward healing.

The financial and employment hurdles faced by veterans are also part of WWP’s mission to provide assistance. The organization equips veterans with the tools necessary to secure meaningful work, maintain financial independence, and support their families. Additionally, WWP extends community outreach through peer support, bringing veterans together to foster connections and share experiences. This holistic support structure ensures that warriors don’t have to face their challenges alone, empowering them to lead fulfilling lives and strengthening the communities they are a part of.

    Support This November 11th

WWP’s efforts are powered by generous donations and community partnerships, enabling them to continue their vital mission.
