Planet Fitness has appointed Harmit Singh, chief financial and growth officer at Levi Strauss & Co., to its Board of Directors, effective immediately. The move expands the board to 10 directors and brings in an executive with more than 40 years of experience across consumer, hospitality, and franchise-focused businesses.
Singh currently oversees finance, investor relations, mergers and acquisitions, corporate strategy, and store and franchisee expansion at Levi Strauss. He also helped lead the company through its 2019 initial public offering and played a key role in growing the retailer’s store footprint by about 200 locations over the past five years.
Before joining Levi Strauss, Singh served as executive vice president and chief financial officer at Hyatt Hotels Corp., where he helped lead Hyatt’s IPO and support global growth efforts. Earlier, he held senior finance roles at Yum! Brands, including CFO positions at Yum! Restaurants International and Pizza Hut, giving him direct experience in large-scale franchise systems.
Planet Fitness leadership said Singh’s financial discipline, operational expertise, and background in global brand growth will support the company’s long-term strategy. Founded in 1992 in Dover, New Hampshire, Planet Fitness has grown into one of the largest fitness franchisors, known for its accessible, low-cost model and broad member base.
