Cousins Maine Lobster (CML), the premier franchise fast-casual lobster roll brand, is making waves in Upstate New York with the launch of its second food truck in the region. This just nine months after debuting in the market. Cindy and Pete Sztankovits, the husband-and-wife duo behind CML’s Upstate New York operations, are doubling down on their investment to bring authentic Maine seafood to more eager customers in Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse.

The decision to introduce a second truck comes in response to overwhelming demand, allowing the team to serve more guests without having to relocate trucks from other territories.

“The strong positive reception from our existing Upstate New York customers made this expansion a clear next step for us within the region,” said Cindy Sztankovits. “Being from Massachusetts, Cousins Maine Lobster has always reminded me of home, and I love seeing that same nostalgia and excitement from our guests—especially those who don’t have easy access to wild-caught seafood.”

A Seasoned Team Leading CML’s Northeast Expansion

The Sztankovits are no strangers to the CML brand. Since becoming franchisees in 2019, they have expanded their reach across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New England. With the recent acquisition of CML’s Boston, Rhode Island, and eastern Connecticut markets, alongside their partner Jeremy Stivaletta, their influence in the Northeast is growing rapidly. This summer, they plan to extend operations into southern New Hampshire and Maine. Ultimately this will further solidifying their presence in the brand’s New England heartland.

As owners of 10 food trucks across multiple states, the couple remains committed to bringing Cousins Maine Lobster’s signature offerings; like lobster rolls, shrimp tacos, and the fan-favorite chowder tots to new neighborhoods. Their latest truck addition also means more local job opportunities and greater accessibility for seafood lovers craving a taste of Maine.

Grand Debut in Canandaigua and More Stops to Follow

CML’s newest food truck will officially hit the road today Tuesday, March 18th, with a grand launch at Tractor Supply Canandaigua (2380 Rochester Rd., Rte 332 North) from 11:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.. The celebration continues with multiple events across the region, giving communities an opportunity to experience CML’s award-winning seafood firsthand.

Fans eager to track the truck’s upcoming stops can check out the Cousins Maine Lobster Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse page for event details.

A Brand on the Move: CML’s Nationwide Expansion Continues

Founded in 2012 and skyrocketing to national recognition after its appearance on Shark Tank and partnership with Barbara Corcoran, Cousins Maine Lobster continues its rapid expansion across the U.S. The brand, known for its responsibly harvested, wild-caught Maine lobster, is on track to open 30 new units in 2025, focusing on high-demand markets such as Seattle, Phoenix, St. Louis, and Indianapolis.

In addition to its growing fleet of food trucks and brick-and-mortar locations, CML is introducing new menu innovations, including its Garlic Butter Lobster Roll, a luxurious take on the classic featuring warm Maine lobster bathed in house-made garlic butter.

“We are thrilled for Cindy and Pete as they continue to grow with Cousins Maine Lobster in New York and have taken over operations in New England,” said Angela Coppler, Head of Development at CML. “Their passion for the brand and enthusiasm toward our unique food story make them exactly the type of operators we seek for future expansion.”

As CML continues to make waves in the fast-casual seafood industry, the Upstate New York expansion underscores its commitment to bringing a top-tier lobster experience to fans across the country; one food truck at a time.

It’s always great to see franchisees reinvesting in new trucks and new territories after successful and sustained launches in other markets.
